JOB SUMMARY:

Supports the Universal Parks & Resorts (UPR) Legal Department by drafting, tracking and managing transaction schedules, and checklists. Responsibilities include maintaining filing system for complex transactions, preparing initial drafts of documents, preparing boilerplate, reviewing intellectual property usage for compliance with licenses, and tracking compliance obligations for international and domestic transactions. Function as a liaison between discrete business units and the attorneys with respect to transactions. Facilitate coordination of information and transaction correspondence. Conduct business and technical research as required by Legal transactional team. Work will also include assisting with projects involving other countries and languages.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists attorneys by drafting and reviewing boilerplate, agreements and amendments; drafting, tracking and managing transaction schedules, checklists, documents; reviewing intellectual property usage for compliance with licenses
  • Assists in maintaining and developing department tickler/calendar systems, status reports, regulatory and operational licenses, corporate and intellectual property records, and tracking compliance obligations for international and domestic transactions; supports attorneys in assembling transactional presentations and closing binders.
  • Conducts business, cultural, legal and technical research as required by transaction team.

SCOPE:

Moderately routine; general policies applied. Some decision-making; detailed understanding of technical issues. Influences decisions of moderate nature requiring high degree of tact. No supervisory responsibility.

EDUCATION:

High school degree or GED is required. Associates degree (AA) is required.Paralegal Certificate (Bachelors degree from a four year college or university acceptable in lieu of a Paralegal Certificate). Bachelors degree is preferred B.A. in Legal Studies or a related field.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum 2 years corporate legal or law firm experience required; 3-5 years preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Current experience and knowledge of life and business practices in Beijing, China a plus.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Must be able to work in a high-paced environment handling multiple tasks at the same time; and must maintain confidentiality of projects, legal and business information at all times.
